TEFO MAITEWA IS FIGHTING FOR HIS LIFE IN ICU FOR 2 MONTHS NOW

National Boxing team youngster Tefo Maitewa is fighting for his life in Intensive Care Unit(ICU) almost two months later.
Having fought for his Olympic career recently at the 2020 African Boxing Olympic Qualification in Senegal,the Molepolole Boxing Club star Tefo Maitewa is facing the greatest battle to have ever encountered.
The talented southpaw is said to have collapsed on the fateful day and quickly rushed to the hospital.

TEFO MAITEWA IS GETTING BETTER
A word from his club confirmed the “depressing” news to SPORTSNATION that indeed Tefo Maitewa is in hospital bed.The club official says they are optimistic that Botswana Boxing Association(BOBA) National Championship 56KG champion will recover from the toughest bout of his life.
The latest coming from the hospital is that Tefo Maitewa was operated for “brain tumor” and is since responding to medication.The club disclosed that since the medical operation,he is getting better by the day.
“We spoke to his family,they said that since the operation he(Maitewa) is noticing who the visitors are,though still in ICU,the club said.”
THE NATIONAL TEAM YOUNGSTER HAD COMPLAINED ABOUT A HEADACHE
An on the deep background source had tipped SPORTSNATION that upon Africa Boxing Olympics Qualifiers held in Senegal,the boxer of interest had not been cleared by the medical doctor.
The mule narrated that a compromise was made since it was an open secret that Tefo Maitewa had complained on several occasions about a headache.
“Same goes to Pitso Mmopiemang of UB Boxing,he had injury and he was dropped in the national team,but in this case he was not dropped,said the mule.”
On the contrary to what the mule highlighted,BOBA Vice President Gilbert Khunwane has slammed the allegations arguing that they had traveled with the doctor through out national team camp.
He authoritatively stressed that the doctor attended the case and he was taken to the clinic.
“He(Tefo Maitewa) complained about a headache,he was then admitted at GPH(Gaborone Private Hospital),said BOBA VP.”
The champion is said to have vigorously received punishment in a sparring while in Hungary before heading for Africa Olympic Qualification Tourney.
BNOC AND BOBA SUPPORTIVE TO THE NATIONAL CHAMPION
Gilbert Khunwane further noted that as the association they are doing everything to be supportive to their boxer.Khunwane assured that the association is in touch with Botswana National Olympic Committee and Tefo Maitewa family in this “hard times”.
Meanwhile,2018 AUSC Region 5 Youth Games wonder kid Oteng Letlowa is also recovering from a life threatening injuries sustained from a road accident .
Tefo Maitewa is a talented and locally decorated boxer with a distinguished boxing development and a career earmarked for greater things in the squared circle.
