University of Botswana(UB) boxing stable will travel 360 km to partake in an international friendly tournament this weekend with Gauteng based boxing team in an effort to prepare for the much anticipated National Boxing Championship expected to be hosted on November 17.

The tournament shadows over after an invitation by the south African based boxing team Gauteng Elite Boxing Club which is sanctioned by the supreme South African National Association of Boxing(SANABO),Botswana Boxing Association(BOBA) is also well aware of the international tourney.

“we have always wanted to do international tournaments at club level. We have been in contact with clubs in South Africa, Uganda, and USA for such. South Africa being near, we have been able to get a club willing to host us.”reads UB club’s official response.

The wolf pack of boxers to the rainbow nation will be led by the experience of Captain Kefentse “Doritos” Molalapata.

With 11 boxers on transit,only 1 is a renowned female sensation Lethabo Mudukanele(48kg).

While there is an outcry for inadequate ladies in the sweetsciece,a bolo punch of injury has strucked UB with the award winning Aratwa Kasemang still on the ringside.Meanwhile Beauty Phori is on maternity leave.

Other boxers on board is the youthful hard puncher Tshepang Kapinga,Thusanang Thotheletso,Pitso Mmopiemang,Romeo Nkisa,Keamogetswe Ditodi,Bakang Mese,Moemedi Rampape,Kobamelo Molatlhegi and Nthaba Nlanda.

In total the team is made up of 2 64kgs,5 60kgs,1 56kg,52kg,49kg and 48 kg respectively.The host team will ring 13 boxers for the tournament.

UB says it exposes the boxers to international arena to get that required mileage and exotic experience to retain the championship crown once more.

“To win as many gold medals and any related awards as we can. Should we retain the trophy, that will be great for the club.We strive to be trendsetters in the sporting fraternity. All our efforts are towards improving the game of boxing, and sport in general, in the country”reads the clubs script.

Officials travelling in a one day trip and event is the chairman France Mabiletsa,Head Coach Lechezhani “Master” Luza,Assistant Coach Samodimo Rabatho and the award winning judge of the year Godfrey Kablay with a possibility of being joined by the team doctor.
