TSHEGOFATSO TSIANG AND LEUNGO MONNAO HIT A ROCK IN THE TENNIS FINALS

GABORONE:Botswana’s double impact ladies double team for region 5 youth games tennis yesterday Tshegofatso Tsiang and Leungo Mannawo had a mountain to climb as they were completely dominated to accept a defeat from their  South African counterparts and highly top seeded duo Ntokozo Zungu and Deien Kleinhans by 6-0,7-5 score.

The home girls performance proved to be slowing down in terms of results orientation as the matches wine.

Tsiang and Mannawo past the first round with a bye and made a date in the next round with easy targets Winnie Msiska and Linda Kanamanja from Malawi.The win of 6-0,6-1 guaranteed  a court space for them with Zimbabwean  Munashe Kaome and Beverly Matsiwe where they narrowly won 6-2,4-2,10-8 in a tight matchup.

The top seeded team,South Africa’s Zungu and Kleinhans had a field day passing  by a bye in the first and second round.The Msanzi’s number one girls were potted in the semi-finals against Lesotho’s Maisa Manyama and Kekeletso Moseme.The Moshoeshoe Kingdom reps gave the South African a fight for their money as the lost 6-4,1-6,10-7.In a highly anticipated order of play for the day,the South African ran rampant against Botswana girls in front of their loved ones to win 6-0,7-5.

In other not to blink an eye matches in doubles Tsholofelo Tsiang and Tshepo Mosarwe of Botswana lost to the overall second positioned of the category Mehluli Sibanda and  Tanaka Chabata after a 6-2,6-3 win over the local boys.The Zim due lost to Andrends Robbie Longwe and Smit Thando of South Africa in the finals with a score 3-6, 6-4 ,10-4.Mized doubles is championed by South Africa’s Andreds and Zungu after a retire by Mozambique’s Bruno Nhavene and Marieta Mhamitambo.

Todays order of play is featuring team event where  Botswana qualified after gunning 11points to cement in position 3.South Africa is number one,followed by Zimbabwe in 2 and lastly Mozambique in 4.Semi final one of the team event will lock horn Botswana and South Africa while semi-finals two will match Mozambique and Zimbabwe.
