BTTA READIES FOR AUSC REGION 5 CHAMPIONSHIP

Botswana Table Tennis Association (BTTA) this past weekend hosted the 4th round of national team selections at Botswana National Youth Center(BNYC) to ready the team ahead of Africa Union Sport Council(Region 5) Championships.
Only the fourth round of the pin pong BTTA showdown was hosted following its suspension due to Covid -19 sudden lock down.
The BTTA national team selections were done by the association to be in a green position in case the suspended Zimbabwe AUSC Region 5 games are lifted sooner that expected.
The AUSC Region 5 games slated for Zimbabwe were indefinitely suspended following the global pandemic of corona virus.
TABLE TENNIS NATIONAL TEAM TO GO ON CAMP
In a telephonic interview with SPORTSNATION,BTTA President Kudzani Motswagole echoed that the next stage for the association is to get the team on camp for an intense training.
Kuzhani Motswagole stressed that the BTTA has written to Botswana National Sports Commission(BNSC) requesting for grant which will be used for the national team.
“Please note that Stag International and PhoenixAssurance Group only sponsors us in local events thus we have written to BNSC to help us with financing the camp,said Kuzhani Motswagole.”
WINNERS ARE PRIORITIZED IN BTTA NATIONAL TEAM SELECTION
BTTA President has assured SPORTSNATION that the criteria used to select national team is simple and straight forward.
The President said that winner are prioritized in selections,in-fact the best performers at the selection tournament cement a place in the national team.
“The players must prove themselves by winning in order to get in the national team,this selection tournament also gives every player a chance to play for the national team,concluded Kuzhani Motswagole.”
The selection tournament which is powered by Stag International and Phoenix Assurance Group only sought to fulfill eight places, four men and four women.
