The boy have already set tongues wagging and everyone is really asking themselves about him, but the answer is simple and straight forward, Tebogo Letsile is Botswana athletics rising star holding the track records from a young age.

TEBOGO LETSILE TRADES FOR LEFIKA ATHLETICS CLUB

The Lefika Athletics Club star was born in June 2003 at Kanye and he specializes in 100m, 200m and relay.

Kanye born stellar started athletics in 2016 and reveled that he was inspired by the veteran Isaac Makwala, Baboloki Thebe who held the national record at the time and Steven Gardner.

LETSILE IS RISING THROUGH ATHLETICS DEVELOPMENT STRUCTURES

Backing up his natural talent with relentless hard work, focus and dedication, Tebogo Letsile’s rise in the track was witnessed at primary school

Since his debut in athletics the talented young star showed consistency in his performance as he scooped three gold medals in 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay during Botswana Primary School Sports Association competitions (BOPSSA) in 2016

In 2018 the boy went on to win two gold medals in 200m and 4X100m relay and silver in 100m during Botswana Intergraded Sports Association (BISA) national finals.

The following year in 2019, Kanye born sprinter shattered Baboloki Thebe’s 200m national record of 21:21s by recording an impressive 21:12s setting a new national record and winning gold medal during Botswana games which saw him qualifying for under 20 World Athletics to be held in Kenya.

Following a long spell out of action due to covid-19, Tebogo Letsile proved to be a force to reckon with in the track as he set Botswana’s new national record in 100m

Early this year the 17 year old boy known to be 200m specialist surprised many by breaking Isaac Makwala’s 100m record.

The young sprinter clocked an impressive 10:14s smashing Isaac Makwala’s 10:20s record and not only that, his time ranks among the best youth times ever clocked.

HE HOLDS THE BEST RECORD IN THE WORLD THIS SEASON

His time also is currently the best recorded time in the 2021 World Athletics season.

Holding two national record and putting on remarkable performance in just four years as an athlete shows that the sky is surely limit for the boy and he is the one to look for in the future.

Surely Botswana will scoop its second Olympic medal through the boy as he is already highlighting athletics world with his astounding performances and more is still yet to come.
