Team Botswana Karatekas has at the CommonWealth Karate Championships held in Durban South Africa proving to its counterparts what it is really made of by raking in multiple medals and trophies as of 02/12/2018.
Botswana Karate Association(BOKA) walks home with five bronze medals, six silver medals and three gold medals. The games started on the 29 of November 2018.
To be celebrated for the outstanding performance Botswana Karate team has Thebe Duna who took part in the under 21 individual Kata, Tebo Wakwena, under 60kg-individual Kata, Maatla Moremedi, 14-15years, Doctor Koolopile-individual Kata and Ofentse Bakwadi who took part in the individual Kata. The above champions walked away with bronze medals.
The silver medalist are from team Kata female, team Kata male, Boemo Ramasimong-individual Kata, Tlotlang Ponatshego-under 75kg, Thabang Maleke -under 68kg and lastly Thebe Duna in the under 21 and under 67kg. The gold medalist are team kumite men, team kumite ladies and Kagiso Mophuting in the individual Kata, 16-17years.
With the above results only hard work and dedication can be seen from the local karatekas,the coaches and BOKA federation.Botswana and Batswana at large can only be proud.
