GABORONE:Gone are the days where ping pong is not staged due to lack or shortage of equipments across the county.Botswana Table Tennis Association(BTTA) has this week unveiled Indies owned Stag International as P476,080 sponsors of sporting equipment.
The deal will came in handy for BTTA with sporting equipment that includes clothing,surrounds, umpire tables, scoreboard match and training balls among others all worth close to half a million. BTTA will also buy table tennis equipment at 30% discount from Stag.
The renowned partner of the International Table Tennis Federation(ITTF)
and Supplier Pool Member of European Table Tennis Union(ETTU) Stag International has committed itself for a period of four years with an automatic renew of the contract.
Stag to date sponsors more than 36 national table tennis teams through its outreach program partnering with Indian High Commissions.
Speaking at the sponsorship launch,Indian High Commission Secretary of commercial affairs, Satender Yadav applauded Stag for extending support to Botswana.
“The High Commission of India would also love to congratulate Stag for extending support to Botswana Table Tennis Association,Stag is an example of hardwork,compassion,commitment to achieve the target they set for themselves,starting with a small family business 90 years back and now Stag is doing business with 202 countries,an outstanding feat,the entire Stag family deserves a round of applause and we thank them for their commitment to societies to wider support to this sports association and worldwide,he said.”
When reached on the sidelines of the launch,President Kudzanani Motswagole narrated that the sponsorship is a welcomed development.
He also said that the money that would have been used to buy equipment will now be used to give national team allowances as a motivation.
Botswana National Sports Commission(BNSC) representative Mission Mereyotlhe pointed out that the equipment will come in handy as it will also be used to facilitate Re Ba Bona Ha program efficiently.
Meanwhile,Yadav announced at the launch that Indian High Commission will fund two players for high tech professional courses and a long term undergraduate or post graduate sponsorship in India.
The BTTA and Stag International contract will commence from October 1 until September 30, 2023.
