Orapa United traveled 5 hours 40 minutes from their slaughter house with a sellotaped orange and black kit to distinguish themselves from the home team Sharps Shooting Stars, only for Sharps to un-sellotape it to sellotape their feets at UB Stadium week 3 clash as they humbled them with a 1 goal to nil win on Saturday 1st 2018 to top the Botswana Premier League(BPL) log standings.
Besides being 530 km away from home, Orapa showed early signs of starvation with a couple of perfect pass combination going forward as they marvelled the crowd.Kobamelo “Swere” Kebaikanye proofed to be a deadly poster on the left wing with the supply from Mothusi Johnson.
However Swere missed a couple of clear cut chance free kicks which were only inches away from the goal post.Sharps on the other hand had only one thing on their minds,to unsellotape Orapa.Sharps full force defensive mode resulted in the game going to the break goalless.
Orapa proved to be a threat through out the game, nonetheless Sharps attacking prowess grew as the game became older.10 minutes into the last half Sharps United brought in Thabo Methayothe for Kago Segokgo and later Orapa`s tired topman Omaatla Kebatho who presented little threat upfront made way for Cristian Epoupa.
84th minute shot on target by Tshepo Malgas was enough after a half way false and horribly wrong miss of a tackle by the experience of Olekantse Mambo, the shot proved to be the difference between the two teams which insured all three point for Sharps.
Lesego Chenjela of Sharps missed too many chances and the usual suspect from Orapa Lebogang Maswena also matched Lesego.Speaking in a post match,Orapa United mentor,Bongani Mafu expressed room for growth brsides being disappointed with his team`s numeruos missed chances.”I think it will not be intellegent to call oneself in or out at this stage of the season. Its only 3 games into the season.”says Mafu
For his part,Sharps second in command Blazer Motlhala expressed delight for his team`s great team work which i contributing to the teams form this season.”we worked hard on team work during the preseason, going all the way from the management to support staff to the players and it has worked wonders for us.”noted Motlhala
Sharps Shooting Stars shot on target gave them residence far away on to the top of the current season with 9 points and 6 goals difference from 3 games.
