Great North tigers(GNT) knocked X1 Angels out of Orange FA Cup tournament by beating them 4-3 today at Francistown old stadium.
The ghetto based giants both looked determined to progress to the last 32 tie of the presticious Orange FA Cup tournament which will feature Botswana Premier League(BPL) teams next weekend.
XI Angels were the first to open the scores. In the 16th minute of the game, Felix Nyikabaranda split through GNT defenders to give his side a lead.
Lekgamu la bananyana as they are affectionately known, portrayed a lovely play as man of the match Mompati Mbizo scored the second goal in the 39th minute to increase the tally to 2 nil.
The big difference between the two teams was the intensity of pressing. Despite a 2 nil down, GNT had set themselves accordingly, well organized to beat Lekgamu la bananyana by coming from behind.
GNT pulled one goal back in the 45th minute of the game before recess to make it 2-1.
In the 77th minute X1 Angels coach Seemo Mpatane pulled out Mooketsi Simon who had a couple of great touches for Ofentse Ntesa.
Lack of communication between Lekgamu la bananyana defence got them punished in the 80th minute as their opponents take a lead by Samuel Musabata.
GNT coach Leposo stated that his opponents have never settled in the second half.”Let me congratulate my opponents, they have a good team but they lack experience”, Leposo said.
On the other hand coach Mpatane admitted defeat.”We started the game well but our defenders got carried away”. “I will go back and talk to them to correct the mistake”.
