BOTSWANA OPEN EXPECTS 200 ATHLETES

GABORONE:Botswana Tennis  Association is currently hosting the 27th edition of Motor Center Toyota Botswana Open tennis tournament at Notwane courts where close to a whopping 200 participants.

The athletes that  are expected to partake in the much anticipated annual tourney features 10 nations including Botswana from 14-17 July 2018.

The Botswana Open tournament is divided into the senior, junior and veterans  sections.

The senior section  consists of ladies and men in singles,doubles and mixed categories.The junior section are athletes below the age of 18.

Pubic Relations Officer Mr Shelton “Benza” Benjamin said that Botswana Open also includes veterans.

“the veterans  are participating  for health  reasons and also to keep them in the sport”said Benza

Benza said the first prize in men’s draw is 10000 as they have to play at least 6 games as compared to women’s draw as they only require to play leser games to win and get 8000.

Veteran’s will get 2000.”the prize money was determined  by the amount  of games played  by the athletes.”said Benza

The sole sponsor Motor Center Toyota has been loyal to the annual Botswana Open tournament for the past 27 years since its inception in 1992.
