MOABI NGAKA IS THE NEW FACE OF BOTSWANA PRO BOXING

BY:Kabelo Seleka
Moabi Ngaka (5-0-1) has crowned himself as the new face of pro boxing after outclassing Onkarabile Mothibedi (5-0-3) for the WBF Intercontinental title fight this past Friday 29th October 2021 at Gaborone International Convention Center(GICC).

Ngaka snatched the historic title from Mothibedi who won it last year
in the biggest fight of his life against Tshephang Babui.

MOABI NGAKA WAS MARVELOUS TO WATCH

Affectionately called “The Eagle” by his well-wishers, Ngaka threw in the hat in the ring with gun blazing to win the highly entertaining bout by technical knockout after complete domination against the “poor” Mothibedi.
When speaking to this publication after the bout, the newly crowned WBF International Super Bantamweight Champion Ngaka alluded that although he did not have a solid game plan apart from going a distance, he seized an opportunity for a knockout.
“I did not have a game plan, my plan was just to play 12 rounds and win on points but I ended seeing an opportunity to knock him(Mothibedi),said Ngaka.”
Ngaka further noted that he is happy about his win overall and shows that boxing is progressing well as everyone in the country was happy with his stage performance.
For his part, Mothibedi stated that it is time to go back to the drawing board and hope for another shot for challenging Ngaka for the belt.
“I am feeling good, I am okay, I can not complain that much, I did what I had to do, I will have to go back to the gym and prepare again to fix mistakes, echoed Mothibedi.”
Other supporting bouts from the fight night were highlighted by Botswana`s Kutlwano Ogaketse’s unstoppable TKO performance against Simon Makwakwa of Zimbabwe, Kagiso Bagwasi registered a victory against Gomotsang Gaasite in the lightweight contestation, Ontlafetse Phale impressively won pro his debut against Moreki Maiketso.
Meanwhile, veteran pugilist and knockout specialist Kgotla Baiti suffered a defeat to Zambia`s Simon Ngoma.

Ngaka is set to defend his title in the next six months against yet to be known, international pugilist.
