GABORONE:A common goal, common vision, common aspirations has a tendency of bringing two people of different locations, join them in a holy matrimony. And the two shall become one. This scenario is found in the cordial partnership between one of the leading mobile networks in the country Mascom Wireless and the Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC).
Mascom announced its P200 000.00 pledge to support team Botswana for Tokyo 2020 competition.
The network giants have also amicably agreed to scrap off the deal where they got a share in the SMS campaign, but instead offered to give full proceedings to team Botswana.
For a long time there has been a cry from sports administrators calling on cooperate companies to stretch their hand towards sports and help in financing the talent that is surely abundant in our nation. This seemed to be low as the relevant stakeholders paid no attention to the cry but Mascom heeded to the cry.
Mascom Chief Executive Officer(CEO) Dzene Makhwade-Seboni said that they will help in promoting Team Botswana with a ColMeBack service messaging service to send a call to action message that reminds customers to send SMS to 16789 to support Team BW.
“we will use some of our channels to profile TeamBW and assist BNOC in creating a hype which will hope will get more Batswana as individuals and corporates to support Team BW,said Seboni.”
BNOC President Col. Botsang Tshenyego said through the dinner the have a target of raising 1 million pula.
“we have set ourselves a target of 1 Million Pula from the dinner proceeds. The tickets range from P75 000 00- P200 000 00,said Tshenyego.”
Mascom’s involvement in sports is also seen through football in Mascom Top 8 competition, volleyball, chess, cycling, karate, netball, the Mascom derby for over 10 years, the Toyota 1000km desert race.
The much anticipated high stake gala dinner dates and venue are to be communicated by BNOC.
