Philimon Makwengwe, Gaborone United(GU) gaffer who was suspended earlier January is still yet to sit on the bench and continue his duties as the head coach for the reds.
The GU management has it in their authority that Makgwengwe brought the team into disrepute through his comments in the media. He indirectly hit back to his management on his mandate as a coach during a pre-match press conference.
“When you hired me you didn’t tell me everything, you said we play league with Township Rollers, Security Systems and BR Highlanders. You never told me about Morupule Wanderers and Jwaneng Galaxy, I had problems with them,” said Makwengwe.
Makwengwe was brought in late last year to help resurrect the team from his position as a technical director after Nikola Karvazovic resigned, his record is rather impressive since then, beating likes of Township Rollers which he claims was top of his mandate list.
Makwengwe`s disciplinary hearing was scheduled for last Thursday but was adjourned to next week Wednesday although no clear reasons were laid out to why the hearing was postponed for a later date.
Pontsho ‘Piro’ Moloi is still the interim coach for Gaborone United until the matter has been resolved.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that the team’s treasurer, Onyana Mafojane has resigned from her position for reasons known to her and the club.
