GABORONE DERBY ONLY FEW HOURS AWAY

BY:Tirelo Mosielele

Gaborone derby will hit the ground running this Saturday as Township Rollers FC will renew their rivalry with old friends in Gaborone United at the National Stadium at 15:45hrs.

For a while the Gaborone derby has been not living up to its expectations due to lack of competition from our local football caused by lack of financial muscle from our teams with Gaborone United one of the hard hit which forced many quality players to live.

On the other hand Township Rollers has been fortunate on their side after a successful season from the CAF competitions which build a great momentum for the players and also with the new coach coming in Rudolph Zapata the former GU coach will be an added addition although he won’t make it for the bench due to work permit submissions, Popa will be banking on the top goal scorer in Mogorosi and the on-form midfielder Mothusi Cooper to bring success.

Gaborone United also has some positives coming into this game, with the introduction of the tactician Philemon Makgwengwe as the head coach who arguably knows everything to do with our local football will be vital to bring the boys like Dirang Moloi and company to song.

Township Rollers are currently at the top of the league with 26 points while Gaborone United is currently sitting at spot 14 with 6 points.

Other league games will also get underway as scheduled this weekend as week 11 continue.
