DEBSWANA BOXING AWARDS OFFICIALLY LAUNCH

Debswana Diamond Mining Company’s Lebole Mpho Mokoto successful and officially launched the Debswana Boxing Awards on Tuesday evening July 31st at Cresta President hotel in Gaborone with an unveiling of a P250 000.00 sponsorship.        

Botswana Boxing Association(BOBA) recognizes its boxers annually for the hardwork they put  in participating in various boxing events for their country.        

Debswana has been sponsoring the awards since 2010 from an initial P50 000,8 years later the sponsorship prize has risen to P250 000 with 8 categories to be contested by those who did well in 2017/2018 boxing season.        

Mokoto said that her company recognizes the positivity sport as a universal language brings out in people life.”debswana values the positive influence of sport in humanity and the immense potential it has in our socio-economic development,sports is a universal language, it has the ability to congregate diverse cultures,nations and even people with diverse ideologies,and that is why  as Debswana we will continue to support various sporting codes such as boxing”said Mokoto.

Mokoto continued to elaborate that Debswana and BOBA have enjoyed mutual understanding and relationship with shared values since the beginning of the relationship in 2010.

     
For his part,the president of BOBA Dr Thato Moses Patlakwe thanked the sponsor for the significant role it plays to sports growth in general particularly boxing”I refer to this launch as history for more than one reason,first and foremost it is the fact that this awards launch shows the commitment and important role played by Debswana to the sport of boxing”said Patlakwe.        

Patlakwe  continued to elaborate that the awards sponsored by Debswana beautify the sport of boxing.”the awards creates a keen interest and competition among competitors hence making boxing events more exciting and appealing to participate  and associated with.”Patlakwe noted.        

He continued to touch on the morale boast from the awards to boxers and inclusion of ladies in the boxing awards.In conclusion Patlakwe said it is significant to note the branding Debswana has done to the boxing awards.      
The Debswana Boxing Awards will be held on the 8th of September in Gaborone.The nominees for 8 categories will be communicated in due.
