CENTER CHIEFS DRAWS WITH ROLLERS

BY:Phodiso  Gaebepe
GABORONE; Week 8 of the BTC Premiership went on yesterday and fixtured the once mighty Kgatleng giants Mochudi Centre Chiefs and the now mighty giants of Gaborone Township Rollers at the University of Botswana Stadium in the evening of Saturday. The two teams played to a 1 all draw.

The crowd was big,it was great and songs were sung the hype was good.

This encounter used to be the biggest a few years ago, one would expect a good game which was difficult to predict.

The game started a little bit late because of the first game. It seemed obvious  that Rollers have come for nothing but 3 points.

However the once dominant Kgatleng giants had a different plan. Township Rollers quality is by far undoubted.

A team known  for  a flow when going forward, they are a team that put the ball on the ground and created spaces going forward on the attack.

The likes of Mothusi Cooper gives them that shape and style as he is an excellent passer of the ball.

It was a  bit difficult for them yesterday as Magosi completely denied them of their game plan, the style and the rhythm which is known.

Centre Chiefs were so hard on them, always first on the ball and cooperated for every ball, high and low they fought.

This was a game with many fouls, time and again a player was brought down on the floor, the energy was high.

Elvis Seleka was very good on the middle of the park, brought shape and was able to deal well with Copper, cutting down most of his passes. He also was able to spray out passes from deep inside to stretch out the field of play.

Ruzivo on the other hand was the only player on Magosi side able to hold the balls and attack Rollers with them. He used his skills and pase to trouble Mosha and Mathumo.

Magosi went man to man on Rollers, they gave them no space and time at all on the ball. Cleared everything, marked everything.

Township Rollers could not play their normal game, we normally  see Mathumo and Mosha going forward to add bodies, because of the pressure.

All the balls were just played forward so they could not put the ball on the ground and play their normal passing game.

Mothusi Cooper proved that he is not only a good player of the ball, but can mark also. He is hard and can win the ball for the team.

A very beautiful free-kick from Arnold Mampori gave Magosi a lead which was quickly cancelled by Kago Monyake.

The interesting part about this game was that both teams were playing with new coaches. Rollers just parted ways with Nicola and Philani Mabgena was his first time on the Chiefs bench.

Thabo Motang was also his first time. They went for break 1 all.

After break nothing changed the approach was the same for both teams.

Some substitutions were made to try and change the game, Rollers brought in Kamogelo Matsabu, Lemponye Tshireletso and Ivan Ntenge for Tumisang Orebonye, Kago Monyake and Motsholetsi Sikele to put more attack on Magosi.

While Magosi brought in Koketso Mokgatitswane and Mmatla Magosha for Morris Ruzivo and Terrence Mandaza.

Orebonye got a yellow card for his reaction after the referee blew for offside.

The game ended 1 all draw and both teams walked away with a point each.

The other games which were played today were Extention Gunners 3-1 Miscellaneous, Gaborone United 3-0 Prisons XI, Sharps Shooting Stars 2-1 Black Forest, Police XI 3-1 Orapa United, Sankoyo Bush Bucks 0-2 Notwane, Mochudi Centre Chiefs 1-1 Township Rollers,BDF 0-0 Jwaneng Galaxy.
