CARLOS SEBINA DEMANDS 20 TEAMS IN BPL

BY:Tirelo Mosielele

Botswana Premier League(BPL) newly demoted and Francistown based outfit Tafic FC Chairman, Carlos Sebina  opined that the BPL should have 20 teams rather than 16 playing in the 2020/2021 season.

The utterance by Tafic  FC head follows his teams unprecedented bow out of the elite Botswana Premier League top flight football.

CARLOS SEBINA IS UNHAPPY WITH BFA`S DECISION

Carlos Sebina voiced out his displeasure on the decision taken by Botswana Football Asoociation(BFA) to prematurely end the 2019/2020 football season in light of corona virus,a decision that has left his team Tafic FC tumbling to the lower tier First Division football.

In his argument,Carlos Sebina cited that  20 teams could play in the elite league next season to avoid football crisis caused by court cases. When speaking to the media,Sebina echoed that a compromise should be met this season whereby no team is relegated.

“Make a 20 team league and next season relegate 4 so that the teams goes back to 16,said Carlo Sebina.”

Moreover, Sebina believes that his team could have survived relegation from the 10 games left and it was premature from the BFA to end it like that.

NJABULO JILIKA SAYS JWANENG GALAXY GOT LUCKY

His counterpart, Jwaneng Galaxy chairperson Njabulo Gilika, believes that no one is to blame for the decision taken to end the league like that and anyone could have won it or relegated, just that they were lucky to be at the summit when it was paused.

SETETE PHUTHEGO SAYS THERE IS NO TURNING BACK

Meanwhile,BFA Competition Manager  Setete Phuthego boldly noted that the conclusion of the season was a resolution that was certified by the medical team sighting it was for the benefit of football since our local clubs have no means to conduct testing services which are heavily expensive.

He concluded by highlighting that no football activity will go on until they are given a green light, this affects playoffs and the Orange FA Cup.
