BTTA TO HOST 2020 INDEPENDENCE GRAND FINALE AMID COVID-19

Botswana Table-Tennis Association(BTTA) is adamant that they will conclude their tournament series by hosting its grand finale at this year’s independence holidays next week on September 30 amid the COVID-19 scare.SPORTSNATION Corespondent Tirelo Mosielele writes.

INDEPENDENCE GRAND FINALE HOSTED IN BUAN
The tournament is scheduled to be hosted at BUAN halls.
The much-anticipated BTTA tournament champion walks away with a grand price of P25 000.00.
Although the ‘new normal’ has brought a different and strange perspective to sports, BTTA Competitions Director, Kabo Mosarwe’s confidence in hosting this tournament is off charts.
“As it stands, unless there is a lockdown in the greater Gaborone, we are on. We are aware of the challenges facing the players (training flexibility) but the show must go on, Mosarwe said.”
TSHENOLO MOOKETSI TOURNAMENT FAVOURATE
The BTTA tournament will be mixed with healthy rivalries that will spice up the event, and one of those is of the most recent champion and first seed on the male section Tshenolo Mooketsi.
Tshenolo Mooketsi pointed out that although it is difficult to train well due to coronavirus restrictions, his only job is to wreck everyone and leave.
His arch-rival Boago Malobela stated that his coach gave him a training schedule which he follows diligently, he is also confident that this year he will give Tshenolo a run for his money.
Other players to look out for are Tshephang Motlhamme Of Nhabe Table Tennis Club and Namibo Mbulawa of True Identity Table Tennis Club in the females section.
BTTA HELP PLAYERS FINANCIALLY WHEN THEY WIN
Meanwhile, BTTA President Kudzanani Motswagole has echoed in the past that through these tournaments they intend to help players sustain themselves financially.The winners pocket a sum of money highest being P25 000.00.
