TALKING POINTS

  • BPL season transfer window is open
  • New International stars to watch for the new season

Clubs are busy with preparations for the coming 2020/21 season by signing new players to beef up their squads. The likes of Jwaneng Galaxy and Gaborone United have signed marvellous players to watch, big names that supporters are eager to see on the field.

MITCHELL KATSVAIRO

Township Rollers is amongst the teams that have been busy during this break in signing players, welcoming former Kaizer Chiefs and CAPS United star Mitchell Katsvairo, Serbian legend and experienced defender Goran Obradovic and former Jwaneng Galaxy central maestro Kutlwelo  Mpolokang to the club.

“Mitchell will give us a different dimension and we are happy”, said the CAPS gaffer because they believed in him to bring in the experience he got from South African giant Kaizer Chiefs.

Rollers supporters are running out of patience to see what the Zimbabwean star is bringing to the club, together with Serbian defender Goran whom supporters are concerned about his age and wondering what will he contribute to the club. Goran  Obradovic will be expected to bring shape to the back line of Township looking at the experience he have, having even featured in close to 6 games in Europa League against teams from Switzerland, Kazakhstan and Faroe Island.

RICARDO TORRES LOURENCO

Defending champions Jwaneng Galaxy on the other side is also preparing themselves to retain their title, they have reinforced their attacking team by signing former Orlando Pirates MDC captain Ricardo Torres Lourenco. Torres is a Bidvest Wits academy product and also spent time in the Netherlands with PEC Zwolle before joining the Soweto giants.

Ricardo is an absolute one of the BPL players to watch, he was a promising player at the Soweto giants which led to former Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Micho Sredojevic calling his name to the Pirates travelling squad for a CAF game in 2016/17 season.

“I believe that they are both marvellous to watch, they have hunger, so maybe in this transfer if we complete signings, maybe I will add 2/3 in my squad for CAF”, said Micho referring to Ricardo Lourenco and his MDC teammate Yusuf Maart.

The Galaxy stars supporters will be hoping that Lourenco will continue causing havoc to opponents like he did recently against one of African feared, Mamelodi Sundowns, in their CAF encounter. The Jwaneng based club has boosted its squad with other two foreigners, Yali Sangare and Sede Junior Dion from Ivory Coast. The supporters will be closely looking at him to deliver a silverware to the club.
