BY:Kabelo Seleka Its 2020,a new year,a new decade,a year of great things upon,so is Botswana Tertiary Education Student Sports Association(BOTESSA) jammed up for an eventful and coulorful 2020 with FNBB BOTESSA Awards said to ignite the year next month at Baisago Convention Center.
BOTESSA will host the much anticipated sportspersons appreciation on February 22 following a successful 2019 of indoor and outdoor sports championship by the tertiary sports authority.
As the best performers will be acknowledged,athletes will have an opportunity to represent the country at the upcoming Lesotho CUCSA games from the 27th of July to the 1st of August after going through an intense friendlies and CUCSA camp billed for 17 July.
Additionally, BOTESSA has successfully cemented a cordial relationship with Botswana Boxing Association(BOBA) to introduce the sport of Boxing to be hosted on the 8th of February.
The association has also included Para Olympics League in August,an initiative highly welcomed by the tittle sponsor FNBB.
When reached for a comment,BOTESSA mouthpiece Duncan Segabo narrated that they have achieved much in 2019 and all thanks to FNBB for the financial blessing.He also hopes that in 2020 they will do more activities with the help of FNBB and their strategic partners.
“We have done a lot in 2019 though it was not easy,we believe with FNBB on board we have achieved a lot,in this year we have plans we believe that are doable like introducing Boxing,Paralympics and take part in CUCSA games.
Other activities on the blueprint are Women in Sports Conference,coaching clinics,half marathon,culture night and more.
With only few weeks left until the awards,the nominees are said to be in the pipeline by the organization.
