Botswana Softball is our diamond. Many countries across the world have identified their strong codes when it comes to sports and they are their source of identification and a way of their life.
New Zealand is associated with rugby, India with cricket, USA basketball while Brazil are the Kings of football.
All these comes from sacrifices the country and their associations put to be recognised and have something to be proud of.
In Botswana, we still struggle to find our stronghold when it comes to sports, all the resources and funds are splashed into football every year but no results come out of that investments.
We have Botswana Softball team that is doing well in our country and it’s regarded as the most successful team sport in the country, participating in every world championship through their male and female counterparts.
Just two years back in USA they made history by making it to the top 8 of the tournament.
The sad part is that no one ever show love and appreciation to the Softball team like in football who always get appreciation dinners and heroes welcomes although they performed below par.Even Botswana Softball games are not as hyped as football.
Non the less,Botswana Softball Association (BSA) is commendable for its efforts of making Botswana softball the best of the best.
It’s high time we focus all our attention and resources in products that will make our nation proud and that could raise the flag high.
