BOTSWANA LADIES FOOTBALL WALKOVER IN AUSC REGION 5 GAMES

BY:Kabelo Lopang
GABORONE:Botswana under 20 women’s football team maintained their first position in group A of the ongoing AUSC Region 5 games after walloping Lesotho with six goals to nil.
The home girls were in a fairy tale as they opened the score sheet on the sixth minute by Keitumetse Dithebe.
Lesotho was not able to take control of the game mainly because of their physical strength which Botswana capitalized on, winning all the ball in the middle of the park.Pace and skill was shown by the home girls when penetrating Lesotho defense which was not good enough to stop jersey number 9 “Keitumetse Dithebe” who netted the second one on the 14th minute.
Lesotho tried to play short passes going foward to eliminate Botswana’s solid defense which made it difficult to convert any of their chances.Senwelo increased Botswana’s lead at the 17th minute before Ketumetse Dithebe completed her hatt-rick to make it 4-0 on half- time. The last half of the game was different as Lesotho started to increase pace going foward but luck seemed not to be on their side as they couldn’t convert any of their few chances.Botswana on the other side also changed their play  as they started to knock the ball around and using their wings to attack which helped Abueng who came in as a sub to find the back of the net.

Lesotho were not able to cope with the pressure and started to make mistakes in front of their 18 area giving Botswana a free kick which Galekhutle curled it nicely around the wall to end the dramatic encounter with six goal to nil.

Botswana will take on Namibia in the second semi final.

FINAL LOG STANDING FOR GROUP A
1. Botswana: 3 >> 7Pts
2. Zimbabwe: 3 >> 6Pts
3. Malawi: 3 >> 4Pts
4. Lesotho: 3 >> 0Pt
