GABORONE:Botswana Boxing Association(BOBA) held its 9th inter-club tourney of the year at Ledumang Senior hall on Saturday 7 2018 where in an overly hyped bout that was expected to make front pages locally between Treasure Moremi and Mmoloki Thipe failed to live up to expectations and standards set by their records in local boxing circles.
The two star boxers were on the card to engage in fist exchange at 60kg category.Surprisingly, the bout did not take place as bout number 12 of the day as scheduled but instead as a cessation of the fights.Tressure and Thipe were not ready to go up against each other and as it was more like a coercion.
Coming to the attention of the station,it is rumored that that Thipe is tranning with Tressure’s club,DTCB,and they are sparring partners. It is also rumoured that Thipe has moved from Prisons Boxing Club to trade for DTCB.
Unfortunately Prisons Club is reluctant to the move of their favorite boxer,so our known sources say.”nnyaya rra ke botatalela hela ja bone”he says.Contacting on the deep background source from Prisons Club,he says there has not been any formal communication by the club nor the boxer.
Nonetheless DTCB says that they will make a letter this week just to clear the air and for formalities. The Elite scholarship program beneficiary Treasure won by unanimous decision.
In other bouts Calvin Modikwa of Glen Valley(GVBC) and fringe contender Badiri James of DTCB were poted.A point a piece was taken for time wasting before the start of the bout.Modikwa thrown in multiple haymakers to force RSC in the second round after a snail pace start in round 1.Clayton Lucas a dread trademark, gave a good coverup to the bolo punches of Tshepang Kapinga in the first round besides dreadman being delayed by a head gear to force his corner to throw in the towel.
Oefile Chapo,an upcoming star battled once again with a matured boxer Ronald Motswakae who was caught red by a flash knockout and instantly bleed,to hand a win to Chapo. In a controversial bout,Romeo Nkisa registered his first loss in a longtime against Gillian Ditswene.Ditswene won by split decision.
AUSC bound Tefo Maitewa battled with George Molwanta who was a plug. The two boxer were infighting most of the bout to force a distance and went to the cards.Tefo won by a split decision.Nlisa Dikgakgamatso provided a good coverup and killer instinct hardpunches in the first round, secondround drunkpunch by Jonhson Kulube almost lowered his confidence.Nlisa won the bout.
BoBA’s very own top attraction Mmusi Tswigie danced on the canvas with his hard hitting old rival Lentswe Zwinila. The duo had two much respect for each other,Tswigie showed great reflexes to the claw hammer punches of Zwinila as he artistically thrown bolo punches to win by unanimous decision.
Moemedi Rampape slid in duration of the bout against Festus Madiehe who gained momentum to win the bout by unanimous decision.
In a balooka bout Phemelo Mphafe of BMC also won by unanimous decision to Prisons Obakeng Mzingwane
Out of the 15 bouts on the card,49kg bouts were 3,in 52kg category 2,3 on the 56kg,5 on the 60kg category and only one in 69kg and 75kg respectively.
