OPINION: BFA NEEDS FRESH MINDS NOW

August will be a month of reality in our football as the mother body, Botswana Football Association (BFA) will convene to hold its elective Anual General Assembly(AGM) held every 4 years which will vote for the new President of the body.

BFA INCUBENT AND FORMER PRESIDENT TO CONTEST FOR THE PRESIDENCY

Although all BFA Presidency official candidates are yet to be released, the likes of now President, Mac’lean Letshwiti have already shown interest to go for a second term contested by former President Tebogo Sebego who is now Notwane FC President and a renowned football administrator Ashford Mamelodi.

What’s depressing is that all this candidates above have been there at the forefront and they had their chance to show their capabilities which some may say they failed to a certain extent looking at how our football has been depreciating in the last 7 years.

DIPHETHOGO SELOLWANE AND ONALETHATA TSHEKISO COULD MAKE GREAT BFA PRESIDENTS

There are many capable men and women in our football who can take the game to a certain level, Diphetogo ‘Dipsy’ Selolwane’s name has been making rounds off recent and it’s fitting looking at his resume which is very rich, from being a professional footballer to being passionate about sports development.

The other fresh soul could come from likes of Onalethata Tshekiso, Mochudi Center Chiefs legend is currently the President of Footballers Union of Botswana which is a right fit for him as his primary mandate at FUB is to put players interests first.

Wildly, it won’t kill if a women is thrown there in the top position, recently women’s football is doing incredibly well and a lady at the top will make it easy to advocate for their development as they look to be the future of our local football.
