The electioneering of the President is widely contested by the incumbent BFA President McLean Letswiti,his predecessor Tebogo Sebego and Oekeditse Malesu.
GENERAL ASSEMBLY VOTED FOR AN ELECTION COMMITTEE
In order to deal with the election processes and appeals,the assembly has voted in an elections committee led by chairperson Moemedi Letina.
Meanwhile,the appeals board is led by Professor Bojosi Otlhogile.
ANNOUNCEMENT OF BFA CANDIDATES TOOK LONGER THAN EXPECTED
The candidate announcement took longer than expected.The official communication for the candidates is said to be last month on June 30.
Other camps within within the football politics decree that the move is a delay tactic by those in power.
Furthermore,the camp accuses those in power for making mickey mouse business around the elections.
TEBOGO SEBEGO AND OOKEDITSE MALESU VETTED OUT OF THE BFA PRESIDENT`S POST
Front Runners former BFA President Tebogo Sebego and Oeleditse Malesu have been vetted out of the race,the unceremonious move by the Electoral Committee follows an integrity checks by the elections committee.
The integrity checks elaborate that all candidates wishing to stand for positions will have to pass integrity tests before they can make a nation wide campaign.
The Dailynews paper had reported few years ago that the ;
“High Court has nullified Law Society of Botswana charges of professional misconduct which were leveled against Tebogo Sebego of Sebego Attorneys. – Notaries, Conveyancers and Patent Agents.
Law Society of Botswana Disciplinary Committee (LSBDC) hearing had found Sebego guilty of professional misconduct and fined him P7 500 for neglecting to give proper attention to his former clients Agnes Duduzile Brook, and Michael Brook.
The Brooks had complained to Law Society that Sebego had defrauded them, neglected their cases and charged legal costs for court appearances for which he had not appeared, hence he was found guilty by the LSBDC.”
Latest developments is that yester years BFA President Tebogo Sebego has submitted his appeal of the matter with Law Society of Botswana.Tebogo Sebego argues that Law Society has cleared him up for the matters.
Meanwhile,Oekeditse Malesu is said to be implicated in allegations of financial impropriety while working at
Botswana National Sports Commission(BNSC).The matter is said to be subject to Disciplinary hearing.
BFA DELEGATES THREATENS TO BOYCOTT THE AGM
According to Killer pass publication,BFA delegates are threatening to boycott the general assembly if BFA President Mclean Letswiti is standing unopposed.
The deed to be threatens the assembly not meeting a quorum.
The official venue of the assembly is yet to be publicly announced,however Selibe-Phikwe is reported to be earmarked to be the host for the BFA showdown.
