Prisons Boxing Club star boxer and national team reject Atang Mosenke has elevated and joined professional ranks under Scud Missile Promotions.
The 24 year old boxer has been part of championship winning Prisons club since 2015.
Mosenke-Scud interests have been in the making since at least last year, the amateur to professional boxing move was however delayed by an injury incurred by Mosenke in one of his Botswana Boxing Association(BOBA) inter-club bouts.
The 75 kg want-away national champion is said to be disgruntled with his current arrangement at Prisons Boxing.
Sportsnation has in position evidence suggesting that Mosenke could have been an under card in last year’s Tshephang ‘Gearbox’ Babui defeat to South African Tholumusa Ngema in the World Boxing Federation (WBF) junior featherweight title.
Fast forward this year,Babui having been granted a rematch, the Morwamosu village born and bred star is said to be in one of the supporting bouts of the main event.
Mosenke and Scud have made an arrangement for housing the star.In the absence of the coronavirus, the star could be training now in preparations for his professional debut as Babui`s curtain raiser which was billed for May this year and now postponed, possibly to September.
Moreover the star boxer did not participate in the last BOBA inter-club raising an eyebrow regarding his commitment to Prisons Boxing.
A source close to the events at the club said that they wont block any boxers move but rather it is a blessing in disguise as they will introduce other upcoming boxers to the club.
When reached for a comment about the subject matter,Prisons Boxing club official Tanaka Rauwe claimed that Mosenke was only joking when he said he wants to join professional ranks.
Rauwe echoed that his star was disgruntled about lack of national team call ups and other internal matters in the club. The official further elaborated that the star made the statements emotionally tainted.
Thuso “Scud” Khubamang has confirmed his boxing stables talks with Mosenke,he however lamented that they have not signed anything concrete as yet.
The outspoken boxing promoter says his latest addition to his camp is unlucky not to have been in the national team because of issues beyond his reach. believes Mosenke should now be in the Olympic squad since he is better than anyone in the country.
Scud boldly told Sportsnation that Mosenke will be fighting for a championship as soon as next year if all goes according to plan.
The national team development prospect under the tutelage of Lechezhani Master Luza’s guidance declined to comment. Mosenke says he is a Prisons Boxing Club boxer in good standing for now.
Mosenke has 39 wins from 66 fights and several other honours since 2013.
